Malta Gaming Authority notice about the January 2024 cancellation of Genesis Global authorisation

The UK Gambling Commission’s notice dated 20 July 2020 names sloty.com among the sites operated by Genesis Global Limited at the time. Separately, the Malta Gaming Authority’s official record shows that it cancelled that former operator’s authorisation MGA/CRP/314/2015, effective 11 January 2024. These are historical records, not proof of a current Sloty casino licence. The historical records cited here do not establish a current UKGC licence for Sloty as of 27 September 2026. This should not be read as a definitive statement that no current register entry exists.

Read the regulator’s named legal entity, domain, activity date and status together. A promotional badge or an old review’s present-tense licence line cannot replace that combination. The broader context is in the closure timeline.

The Malta Gaming Authority cancellation concerns Genesis Global Limited and its former authorisation.

The former operator and its licence dates

The question “Was Sloty licensed?” needs a date. It also needs the name of the business that held the authorisation. The former Sloty brand was associated with Genesis Global Limited, which appears in the historical UKGC notices and the later MGA decisions. Those sources establish events at particular times. They do not certify the operating status of another website in 2026, even if that website happens to reuse the word Sloty.

The UKGC notice explicitly connects Sloty.com to Genesis Global

In its 20 July 2020 release, the Gambling Commission identified Genesis Global Limited as holder of a combined remote operating licence and listed the websites affected by its interim suspension. Sloty.com appears by name in that list. This makes the UKGC release a primary historical identity source: it ties a particular domain to a named operator and a dated regulatory event. A review site’s badge, by contrast, could have been copied long after the associated record changed.

The notice’s historical operating licence number is 000-045235-R-324169-010. That number is printed in the regulator’s 2020 release; it should be read as a reference to the then-described authorisation and not republished as an active 2026 licence number. A historical number alone does not establish whether an entity, trading name, activity or domain is presently authorised. Any status statement needs a current register entry with the appropriate match.

The July notice was an interim action under a UKGC review. The later UKGC account states that the suspension was lifted on 14 October 2020 after compliance improvements, and that the investigation continued. The January 2022 outcome involved a fine, warning and further auditing. One record does not erase the other. If a third-party page still describes the 2020 suspension as open-ended, it has missed a documented change in the legal status of that particular interim measure.

What the Malta licence reference identifies

The MGA’s notice published on 17 January 2023 names Genesis Global Limited, company reference C-65325, and its licence MGA/CRP/314/2015. It dates the suspension to 16 January 2023 and connects the measure to the winding-up of the authorised person. The source states that the business could no longer carry out gaming operations, register new players or accept new deposits under that authorisation. The licence reference comes directly from the regulator, not from a list of casino reviews.

The subsequent MGA decision published on 12 January 2024 names the same company and authorisation, and makes the cancellation effective 11 January. The official wording requires removal of references to the MGA and its authorisations. It also records directions relating to reporting player-fund remittances and states that the MGA was collaborating with the appointed liquidator. This is relevant evidence of the regulator’s directions, not a public ledger proving the outcome of each customer’s account.

Consequently, a page describing the former Genesis authorisation as a current MGA licence conflicts with the specific official cancellation record unless it can provide an independently documented new authorisation for a clearly identified entity. An old licence number in a modern footer is particularly poor evidence: its format may look authentic even though the primary record says it was cancelled. Nor should the cancellation be applied to another operator simply because a new site resembles the old one.

Historical UK records do not establish a current licence

The Gambling Commission’s July 2020 release identifies Genesis Global Limited and sloty.com in an interim suspension. Its January 2022 release records that the suspension had been lifted on 14 October 2020. Those events belonged to the original business, before its British market exit in December 2022.

The current business register concerns the status, activity and domains of licensed businesses today. An old reference number or a former trading name cannot establish a live authorisation for a present-day site. No current register entry identifying a functioning original Sloty casino is supplied here. The documented Malta authorisation is separately marked cancelled; the UK and Malta records should not be merged into one licence status.

Neither an old licence badge nor a lookalike address proves that a modern gambling service inherited Genesis Global’s former rights, duties or player accounts. A historic domain association is not evidence of present ownership or a route for recovering funds.

How to read a live licence entry without mixing its fields

The UKGC register explains that its account name is the legal business name, while trading names and domains are separate declared fields. A licence status such as active, suspended or surrendered refers to the recorded licence. Activity-from and activity-until dates concern particular products. It is possible to read the correct business name but overlook that a particular trading name, domain or activity is inactive. That is why a single cropped logo or historical account number is not enough for a present-tense conclusion.

When checking an entry, record five things together: the legal entity, the status of the relevant remote-casino activity, the domain or trading name if shown, the effective dates and the date the register was inspected. Keep saved images or copies with the URL visible, and distinguish original regulator wording from your summary. The register itself cautions that some trading-name and domain information is supplied by gambling businesses and cannot be guaranteed accurate independently by the Commission.

For the older Sloty case, the July 2020 notice supplies the brand-to-operator association and licence reference. The MGA notices supply the Malta authorisation history. A current UKGC record would be a different category of evidence, needed only for a claim about present legal status. The original domain and identity applies the same separation to names used by other websites.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland are not identical legal labels

The UKGC’s remote casino operating licence guidance deals with offering online casino games to consumers in Great Britain. Great Britain means England, Scotland and Wales for this purpose. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom but has its own gambling-law framework, described by its Department for Communities. Therefore, an old notice saying “Great Britain” should not casually be recast as a finding about every legal arrangement throughout the UK.

Geographical labels also matter when a company had authorisations in more than one jurisdiction. A Maltese licence, a British remote licence and a domain association answer different questions. Cancellation of the Maltese authorisation tells us the status of that authorisation, not the outcome of an unexamined present-day UK register search. For the former operator, the sequence is visible in the official notices. For any newly encountered website, start with its identified business and current jurisdiction-specific records rather than importing Sloty’s old data.

What a historical record means for former players

The July 2020 UKGC notice instructed Genesis Global to facilitate customer withdrawals during that interim suspension. The January 2024 MGA notice directed the former operator to provide a report and bank statements concerning the remittance of player funds, with the regulator working alongside the appointed liquidator. Those are concrete regulator statements tied to particular events. They should not be turned into a promise of continuing account access, an automatic eligibility determination or proof that an individual transfer was completed.

If an old balance is involved, keep the account identifier, transaction record, dated correspondence and the operator’s name together. A relevant regulator notice can be attached as background, but evidence of the individual amount and its status still matters. Read the separate old withdrawal evidence for that record-keeping task, rather than relying on an archive licence badge to establish a claim.

What the former licence history means today

Sloty.com was included among Genesis Global’s websites in the 2020 British suspension notice. That suspension was lifted in October of the same year. The operator exited the British market in December 2022, and its separate Malta authorisation was cancelled effective 11 January 2024. The dates describe a sequence of events affecting the former company, not an active licence today.

The MGA cancellation decision addressed outstanding regulatory fees and player-fund records. It also referred to work with an appointed liquidator. That order did not confirm settlement of any one person’s balance or provide a present-day Sloty cashier. Former customers should keep the original transaction record and distinguish a regulator’s direction to an operator from an individual payment result. See old withdrawal information for that distinction and Sloty UK historical review for the wider history.
